Family Friendly Section 

This section is based in the Garda Human Resource Directorate in Athlumney House in Navan. The team primarily deals with a range of HR areas for both Garda members and staff, including:

  • Annual Leave (for Garda Staff);
  • Unpaid Maternity Leave (Garda Staff and Garda Members), Adoptive, Paternity, Parental Leave and Parent’s Leave;
  • Career Breaks and Carer’s Leave;
  • Work-sharing;
  • The Shorter Working Year Scheme;

Another function of the Family Friendly team is the processing of annual increments for Garda Staff. The section collects increment reports from line managers throughout the organisation and advises Payroll to award or withhold increments as appropriate. Probation Management 

A new Probation team has been set up and have been working on creating a new probations process for Garda Staff, both for new entrants and staff on promotion. The team are available to answer any queries you may have at
