Physical Health Supports
Regular physical activity is the key to getting healthy and staying healthy; yet studies show that few Irish people take part in regular physical activity (SLÁN 1999, 2002, 2007). People use motor transport more than ever and technological advances mean that our working lives are more likely to be inactive, e.g. sitting at a computer.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) and Department of Health and Children have produced The National Guidelines on Physical Activity for Ireland to support the promotion of physical activity in Ireland.

Federation of Irish Sport
The Federation of Irish Sport is the representative organisation for the National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) and Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) in Ireland. The Federation’s membership consists of over 110 NGBs and LSPs from every corner of the country, including the GAA, FAI, IRFU, Swim Ireland and Athletics Ireland.

Operation Transformation
Operation Transformation is a TV show on RTE held annually starting in January.
Participants of Operation Transformation try to lose weight and get fit with the help of a personal dietician, fitness instructor and psychologist.
Members of the public can go onto the website and select a leader to follow. Food plans and exercises are available and 5K walks are held throughout the country where members of the public can participate.
