October 2024

As we conclude October 2024, we are thrilled to report another remarkable month for our embedded mental health first aid programme. This month saw the launch of 17 additional courses, as Cohort 3 joined Cohorts 1 and 2 to begin delivering the programme nationwide. This collaboration resulted in 279 more individuals receiving the vital training, bringing our new total to an impressive 1,514 certified mental health first aiders within the Garda community.

The integration of Cohort 3 into our facilitator team marks a significant milestone in our mission to enhance mental health awareness and support across the organisation. With this expanded capacity, we are able to reach more personnel than ever before, ensuring that mental health resources and training are accessible to all.

The dedication and teamwork among our facilitators have been instrumental in the success of these courses. Each new mental health first aider is equipped with the skills necessary to provide crucial support to their colleagues, fostering a culture of compassion and understanding throughout the Garda community.

We are incredibly proud of the progress made in October and look forward to seeing the positive impact of this training on the wellbeing of our personnel. The commitment shown by all participants and facilitators is essential in creating a mentally healthy workplace.

At the Garda National Wellbeing Office, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in this initiative. Your hard work and dedication are making a meaningful difference.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to promoting mental health awareness and support within our organisation.
