Wave of Light - 15 October | Baby Loss Awareness Day

Some losses leave a lifetime of love and memories, even when a lifetime together was never possible.
On 15th October, we invite all Garda personnel to join us for Wave of Light, a special evening of remembrance in recognition of Baby Loss Awareness Day.
At 7pm, the Commissioner’s Block will be illuminated in pink and blue, joining a nationwide and global wave of light in memory of babies gone too soon and in support of all those affected by pregnancy and infant loss.
Across Ireland, public buildings, landmarks and community spaces also take part by lighting up in pink and blue, creating a visible reminder that families affected by baby loss are not alone. In previous years, more than 180 buildings across the country have participated.
This special initiative was brought to the attention of An Garda Síochána by colleagues Linda and Anthony O'Donoghue, who have been personally affected by baby loss. Their wish to raise awareness and create a moment of remembrance within the Garda community has helped bring this meaningful initiative to Garda Headquarters.
The first candle to be lit at Garda Headquarters was in memory of their Grandson, Bobby Anthony Murphy, making the occasion particularly poignant and establishing a lasting tribute to a little life remembered.
Their story is a reminder that behind every candle is a deeply personal story of love, loss and remembrance.

Whether you have experienced loss yourself, are remembering someone dear to you, or simply wish to show your support, you are warmly invited to join us.
Unable to attend in person? You can still be part of the Wave of Light. At 7pm, light a candle at home, take a quiet moment to remember and, if you wish, share a photograph of your candle using #WaveOfLight.
A single light can carry a powerful message: you are remembered, your grief matters, and you are not alone.
Join us on 15th October at 7pm at the Commissioners Block. Whether in person or from your home, let us come together to remember, reflect and shine a light for every little life.
